Wildomar, CA. October 17, 2008. On a brilliant Saturday morning more than 30 avid dual sport riders gathered at the
Temecula Valley International Film Festival. The 150+ mile loop included Jimmy Roberts, son of the great JN Roberts and
first motorcycle rider to cross the Baja 1000 finish line in 1967.
As the publicity fo the event grew, The US Forest Service contacted Racing For Life and offered to help. Four volunteers
from the USFS off road program provided emergency support, chaperoning the ride up Mt . San Jacinto to Idyllwild for lunch
and live music.
Even the American Motorcycle Association helped with insurance and safety guidelines as Idyllrock 2008 was an offical
AMA-sanctioned event. Bottom line -- no injuries and lots of fun!. There were four flat tires, though. Oh, well.
Daniel Ixcot from the El Oasis Children's Orphanage joined us as well. He manned the charity booth at the festival with Ofelia
Filanc to raise money and awareness for RiderDown, the US Forest Service volunteer program and the El Oasis Orphange in
Valle de Trinidad, Baja California.
The weather was mid-70s, perfect for riding. The views were spectacular. Pine trees and chapparal. Just a perfect day.
Even Mag 7 manned a pit stop at the bottom of the Allesandro Trail, providing tire repair and refreshments. Pag 7 has been
pitting for Baja Racers for 40 years in the Baja 1000 an The Baja 500.
Everyone eventually made it back to the film festival in Temecula for the 6PM big screen premiere of FULL CIRCLE. WIth
much anticipation and about a 15 minute delay, about 100 people poured into theater 2. Applause throughout and lots of
laughter. Pretty amazing seeing the film on a 30 foot tall screen!
After the film, Wahoo Fish Tacos of Temecula catered a special taco dinner for everyone. Tom Orbe, local owner and
restauranteur presented the film as film sponsor. A prefect touch to a perfect day.
After dinner everyone gathered round for a fund raising raffle. Several thousand dollars of gifts were donated by RFL
sponsors, including Baja Designs, SLIME, GPR Racing (steering stabilizer), Sunstar, and Malcolm Smith Racing. The grand
prize was a 32" plasma tv donated by Southern Contracting. Mario Savala drew the winning ticket.
Jimmy Roberts and Jim Filanc made an announcement after the raffle that they are formally applying to get JN inducted into
the Off Road Hall of Fame. Bob Bower, Executive Director of the hall indicated that he will work closely with RFL to help get
JN recognized for this long-overdue honor
$5000 Raised for The RiderDown Foundation
Idyllrock 2008 was all about raising money for The RiderDown Foundation. When all receipts were counted and pledge
dollars collected, $4,000 was raised to benefit this fine charity. The Rider Down Foundation (www.riderdown.org) in 2008.
Rider Down is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping responsible off road motorcyclists and ATV racers who have
been injured while riding. Proceeds are used to provide assistance to the riders and their families when faced with medical
expenses and related issues.

September 20. The film was warmly received by the more than 100
people in attendance, including the 30+ dual sport riders who joined
Racing For Life's first annual Idyllrock Dual Sport Ride held the same day.
Totally Off Road Radio joined Racing For Life at the grand opening of the
festival, broadcasting live from 6-8 PM to spotlight Idyllrock 2008 and The
RiderDown Foundation. Jim Holthus, show producer and host was joined
by Jim Filanc as guest host. JN Roberts called in, along with Brian
Deegan of Metal Mulisha fame, and Bruce Vermeulen, founder of
RiderDown. Joining Jim and Jim in the booth were John Barnes, RFL
team member and third overall in the first Baja 1000, plus Alan and
Deanna Roach, owners of Baja Designs, event title sponsor.
All in all the festival was a great success as more than 14,000 people
were in attendance over the 5-day festival run!
